Ok, so it’s not exactly 730 days at this point, but basically my husband and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary on August 7th. This post is actually late because we celebrated this occasion on the big island of Hawaii, and the island was too lush to spend time pounding away on this keyboard. Now that we’ve been back a week, and have settled back into our usual routines, I decided it would be good to share some insights I’ve learned over the past two years. Prepare yourself!
We’ve all heard successful couples say that a serious relationship takes constant work to make sure that both parties are happy. While I accepted this advice, I naively thought that sliding that ring onto my husband’s finger would mean that everything would be easy peasy the rest of our lives. Looking back on it now, I have no idea why I was so dumb! The truth is that my husband and I look at things from two very different points of view. Because of this fact the simplest topic could turn into a full blown argument, which would obviously not be good for our relationship! As stubborn as I am (hey, I’m a Taurus), I have really had to learn how to let things go, and not insist on getting my way
The Love Grows
While our “newlywed” phase hasn’t been all hearts and flowers, I honestly love my husband more now than I did when we first met on eHarmony nearly four years ago. When I first decided that we would take a family vacation to Hawaii I wasn’t sure what I would give my husband as a gift, but then in a flash it occurred to me. Watch out for a dedicated blog for this topic, but I arranged for us to renew our vows on a beautiful beach with our closest family surrounding us!
Although I’ll talk about the vow renewal later here are some of the best shots I took on our trip to the Big Island.
