My Goals for 2018!
I’m not usually the type to write down (or even seriously think about) my New Year’s Resolutions until I actually break them, but I decided to behave differently this year! There is so much that I want to get done (both personally and professionally) that I want to have an actual goal to complete by this time next year. Some of these might sound a lot like your goals for 2018, so please let me know if we’re going to rock this out together!
This goal is one that I’ve been meaning to do for a while now, but have continuously put aside. When I was in high school and college, I religiously used a planner to keep track of my assignments and commitments, but somewhere along the line I broke this habit. I’ve put off actually using a physical planner for a while now because in general I have a really excellent memory. I often feel like my mind is going so fast that I don’t even have time to pull out the planner, let alone use it faithfully. However, with the many things pulling at my time these days, I have to be realistic and stop relying on my memory to get everything done. I picked up the planner above from Walmart for about $7, but there are several different places where you can grab one. The inside has dividers to separate the months, as well as inspirational quotes before the start of each new month. I did try to use the calendar app on my phone, as well as try out a few other organization apps, but I honestly never used them. I’m hoping that this pretty little organizer will help me juggle the many balls in my life! Check out some other awesome planners I considered here!
During my brief hiatus from this blog I opened my own Etsy shop featuring handmade melt and pour soaps. I never intended for this to turn into a business, and actually find the making of my soaps completely relaxing. As the piles of pretty soaps started to stack up however, I decided that I needed to share them with as many people as possible. While I’m keeping my actual sales goal for this shop to myself, I will say that I have tons of ideas on new products that will inspire buyers to buy. For any of you that love Etsy as much as I do, please check out my unique bath products! Also, keep an eye out for specials, as well as giveaways for my readers!
Another reason for my absence during December was because my husband and I were marking the anniversary of our ectopic pregnancy. Everything about December was hard for me, and I spent much of it in a depressed state. While my husband and I have been trying to conceive again since our loss last December, something about passing the one year mark of our baby’s death actually makes me feel like I’m fully ready to commit to this process. My goal for 2018 is to give birth to a healthy baby with no complications, and to give my family what we’ve been yearning so long for. I plan to write more blogs on this topic, as I know that ectopic pregnancies happen to so many other families, and is so very isolating an event.
In order to achieve my last goal, I’ll definitely have to focus on a healthier lifestyle. While I don’t think my diet is the worst one out there, I know that I should consume more fruits and vegetables than I currently do. I also need to increase the amount of water I drink daily. With the kids active in Tae Kwon Do (they’re going for their black belt this spring) I want us to go on a more meat and vegetable diet, and cut back on the unnecessary carbs. Thankfully everyone in my household loves meat, so this shouldn’t be too hard! I also need to use my elliptical as more than a scarf rack, so I’ve removed my scarves and plan to use it for at least 10 minutes in the morning. I know 10 minutes doesn’t seem like a lot, but I’m completely out of shape, and need to work myself up to more! Once I feel like I’m ready for it, then I plan to join my local bar pilates class. I joined one while I lived in New York, and the three months I consistently attended classes were the healthiest of my life!
So that’s what I’m working on for the next year! I’m hoping that when I write a similar blog post in January 2019 I’ll be able to move on to new goals, and can report that I achieved every one listed above. One of the reasons I wanted to write this post is because once it’s out there people can hold me accountable to it. I’ve already reached out to several friends (and know my husband will do it) to have them hold me to task on whether or not I’m keeping my word. I think this will allow me a lot less wiggle room, and so here’s to a well-used planner, a successful Etsy shop, a newborn baby, and a healthy body!!
What are your goals for 2018?!
