Happy Birthday to Me!
Today (May 15th) is my 35th birthday! Wow! I can’t believe I just wrote that! I really haven’t thought much about my birthday over the last couple of years because let’s face it, they all start to blend together at some point. I can remember like yesterday when one of my dearest friends told me on my 21st birthday that the years would roll by so quickly now, and that I wouldn’t even remember it. At the time, I thought she was just reflecting on her own life (she’s 17 years older than me btw), and what she said couldn’t possibly be true. I’m glad I didn’t put a bet on whether or not she’d be right, cause I sure would have lost!
Apparently, my last big birthday was 30, and my how my life has changed since then. At 30, I was living in Brooklyn, working at a major hospital in the city, and traveling on awesome vacation every few months. Now, I live in the Inland Northwest with my husband, two stepchildren, mother in law and miniature English bulldog. While I’m not running off to the airport as much as I used to, my travel itineraries are so much more complicated now.
For my next milestone birthday, I hope to have traveled a whole bunch more, have had a baby, and seen my two stepkids grow even more into the awesome people I know they can be. I hope that my mom’s health stays the same (if not better), and that the worries of the world don’t weigh us all down so much we forget to live. I also wouldn’t mind a couple more zeros on the end of my bank balance, a well used passport, and another Yankees championship!
